Canivet TOXO Ab Test Canine Toxoplasma gondii IgG/IgM Antibody Test
Short Introduction
Toxoplasma is a worldwide zoonotic protozoosis. The cat is the ultimate host. Dogs can become infected with the parasite by taking root in infected soil, ingesting cat feces, or eating contaminated meat, fruits, or vegetables.
Infection is more common and severe in puppies and young dogs, and fatal cases have been reported in adult dogs.
The Canivet TOXO Ab Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Toxoplasma gondii IgG/IgM antibody (TOXO Ab) in dog's serum, plasma and whole blood specimen.
Principle
The Canivet TOXO Ab Test is based on sandwich method lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test card has a testing window for the observation of assay running and result reading. The testing window has an invisible T1 zone, T2 zone and a C (control) zone before running the assay. When the treated sample was applied into the sample hole on the device, the liquid will laterally flow through the surface of the test strip and react with the pre-coated TOXO recombinant antigens. If there are TOXO antibodies in the specimen, a visible T line will appear. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, which indicates a valid result. By this means, the device can accurately indicate the presence of TOXO antibodies in the specimen.
Test Procedure
-Allow all materials, including specimen and test device, recover to 15-25ºC before running the assay.
-Take out the test device from the foil pouch and place it horizontally.
-Using the capillary dropper to place 1 drop of the prepared specimen into the sample hole "S" of the test device. Then drop 3 drops (approx. 90μL) of the assay buffer into the sample hole immediately.
-Interpret the result in 5-10 minutes. Result after 10 minutes is considered as invalid.
Interpretation Of Result
-IgG Positive (+): The presence of "C" line and "IgG" line, which indicates that the animal has been contracted to Toxoplasma gondii.
-IgM Positive (+): The presence of "C" line and "IgM" line, which indicates a possible current contract of Toxoplasma gondii.
-Negative (-): Only clear C line appear. No T line.
-Invalid: No colored line appears in C zone. No matter if IgG or IgM line appears.
