Feline Herpesvirus Type-1 - Calicivirus Antigen Combo Test
Feline Herpesvirus Type-1, also known as Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVR), is a common viral infection in cats. It primarily affects the respiratory system, causing symptoms such as sneezing, nasal discharge, conjunctivitis (inflammation of the eyes), fever, and loss of appetite. FVR is highly contagious among cats and is spread through direct contact with infected cats or through contact with contaminated objects such as food bowls or bedding. While there is no cure for FVR, supportive care and management of symptoms can help affected cats recover. Vaccination is also available to prevent infection in cats.
Feline Calicivirus (FCV) antigen is a protein or molecular component derived from the Feline Calicivirus, a common viral pathogen that affects cats. FCV is one of the primary causes of upper respiratory tract infections in cats and can also lead to oral ulcerations, pneumonia, and joint inflammation. Testing for FCV antigen involves detecting the presence of the virus in clinical samples such as saliva, nasal discharge, or conjunctival swabs. This test is crucial for diagnosing FCV infections in cats and guiding appropriate treatment and management strategies.
Reagents& Materials
The kit can be stored at room temperature (2-30°C). The test kit is stable through the expiration date (24 months) marked on the package label. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not store the test kit in direct sunlight.
Use dropper
Before use, all components must equilibrate to room temperature (15 - 25°C) for 10 minutes.
1. Remove the test card from the foil pouch and place it flat on a work surface.
2. Transfer 3 drops of the treated sample from the assay buffer tube into the each sample well.
3. Start the timer. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes to read the result.
Interpretation of Results
-Positive (+): Both the Control (C) line and Test (T) line appear as magenta-colored lines in the corresponding testing window. Any faintly visible T line should be considered positive when the C line is also present.
-Negative(-): The C line is visible, but the T line is not visible.
-Invalid: No line appears in the C zone.
