Acute type, manifested as high fever, depression, loss of appetite, no food, increased thirst. Generally, a "saddle-shaped" body temperature curve appears, and the body temperature begins to rise, reaching above 40.0 °C for 1 day, and then drops to close to normal temperature for 1 day, and then the body temperature rises for the second time. Chills, runny nose with watery fluid, similar to acute cold symptoms. Most cases present with abdominal pain at the xiphoid cartilage site, or see tenderness. Inflammation of the gums, pale gingival mucosa, sometimes with small bleeding spots and spontaneous hematomas, inflammation of the tonsils, edema, and bleeding. Dogs with chronic type showed only mild fever, good and bad appetite, constipation and diarrhea alternately.
